Ego: Diving into Thinking Mind

The Thinking Mind/Ego course is learning to recognize and remedy all the ways we "get stuck" in our everyday life, making things worse with our stories about them, judging ourselves and others, needing to be right etc. It's a deeper look into mindfulness concepts and strategies for using them as the need arises in everyday life. The text is Eckart Tolle’s A New Earth.

Prerequisites: This class is intended for students with a past or current mindfulness practice, or an interest in Eckhart Tolle, or Koru Mindfulness graduates.

Course Description:

Ego: Diving into Thinking Mind

In this class we are going to learn about the ego, what it is, how it operates and all the unnecessary grief it causes in our lives.

We will look very closely (and with a sense of humour), at that part that of us that wants the drama, that likes to react or judge, and is skilled at making up stories.  When we are unwise to the ego’s sneaky ways of operating, we can make quite a mess of things. In this class you’ll learn how to notice when the ego’s in charge and use this awareness to act wisely in the moment. You’ll suffer less.

The four 75-minute classes will consist of weekly check-ins where you can share your experiences navigating the course material. Firth will teach to your questions and help you understand and apply the mindfulness concepts with video clips, in-class written exercises and meditations. Several times a week, Firth will respond to your reflection journals and send out brief, informative text messages to support your practice until the next meeting.

This is a class you can take again and again. You’ll be amazed at how many new teachings are in there for you with each reading. It’s easy to forget all the beautiful pointers; practicing together in a group with a teacher will put presence front-in-center in your life again. You’ll notice the benefits.
